![]() I couldn't rebuild this old post and rail fence because it's too fragile. I just propped the slabs of wood where they might have been. The gate was broken and crumpled and similarly the 1850s heritage would be lost if anything much was done. I straightened it and it's held together with a piece of bamboo and some copper wire. I'm quite proud of my hidden work.

I'd kill to have features like this in my own garden. I don't even have my own garden yet because I currently live in a building but I know one day God will finally grant me my dream of having my own house. Without anyone telling me what to do and who to let inside, I think I am going to be the happiest person in this planet. Everything in there will be part of my heritage in the next decades to come. I know I am going to have very responsible grandchildren who will take care of them.

The Garden BlogBeaumont House is a South Australian National Trust home built in 1839. I used to walk past the place often and think to myself that someone ought to do something about the garden. Archives
