When I first started the cottage garden, this area was a solid tangle of periwinkle. With one of the male gardeners I cleared a path because it seemed crazy not to have a way through. We were told to stop. We did, and the first photo shows where. The periwinkle grew back but the easiest way to get to morning tea was that way and finally I was given permission to have a pathway. As soon as I started anything else the weeds grew back. Finally I got it to look like the last photo. Since then I have made a lot of changes but I don't want to show them until the whole area is finished.

The Garden BlogBeaumont House is a South Australian National Trust home built in 1839. I used to walk past the place often and think to myself that someone ought to do something about the garden. Archives
